Recognizing the value of People Award

This award is to recognise those companies from amongst our membership who have placed greatest emphasis on their internal CSR. It is based solely on the employee's opinions about their company, rather than what the company says about itself. Companies interested in being considered for this award will have a twenty- two question survey circulated to a random sample of their employees and the results of the survey will be tallied by the judging panel to create an overall ranking of participating companies. The survey will ask employees for their opinions on major areas of CSR, including communication, consultation, work-life balance, equity, transparency, respect, trust, health and safety and concern for the environment.

Instructions and Guidance for Companies

In order to be considered for this award your company must provide us with a complete listing of your employees, so that we can ensure a robust sample, and work with us to ensure the distribution and return of the questionnaires. There is also a small administrative fee that you will be charged to help us off-set the cost.

Questionnaires will be e-mailed to the random sample of your staff June 12th, 2009. The random sample will comprise twenty percent of your total full-time workforce or a total of sixty people, whichever is greater. Firms with less than sixty employees will not be eligible for this Award. Employees will be asked to complete the form and return by e-mail to the Awards Coordinator.

The top three ranking companies will be informed that they have been shortlisted for the award on or before August 7th, 2009. The STCIC will visit these companies in order to compile a short video, mainly comprising interviews with staff in consultation with relevant staff in your company. The final ranking among these top three companies will be announced at the STCIC CSR Leadership Awards at a ceremony on 18th September 2009.
